Quitting a job is a difficult decision for some of us that don't have the luxury of being financially stable enough to say “I quit” whenever we feel like it. Here are some ways to quit a job without you losing in the end.
- Search then Quit: take a day or two off of your job if you can and look around for another job. Talk to your family and friends to see if they know of any employers that will hire you and fill out applications everywhere that you would feel comfortable working. When that new employer interviews you and gives you the job, let your current job know by giving a two weeks notice. This way you're making sure that you're not losing any wages.
- Give a Two Weeks Notice: giving a two weeks notice is crucial in the employment business. Though you may hate your boss and want to storm out of the job screaming obscenities, a two weeks notice protects you in the long run. It shows that you are considerate enough to let your employer know that you will be leaving in order for them to find a replacement. Also a two weeks notice protects you if you decided to take the job back again.
- Keep Your Dignity: you always win by keeping your dignity. If a boss or co-worker does something to make you feel uncomfortable report it immediately to the proper supervisor. If this doesn't work, go ahead and quit. Your dignity and respect are a lot more important than money.
