Teenagers, Where Has Our Summer Gone?

This realization shows where teenagers' summers have gone. Read if you wish to make the most of your life!

When I was little, summer vacation off of school used to last forever... And I loved it. As I climbed through middle school, I noticed that summers didn't seem as long as they used to. Could it be that the world is spinning faster so our days are shorter? Possibly, yes; but realistically, no. The reason they seem to get shorter is because when we were in grade school we woke up at around 6-8AM. As we got older and moved into 8th grade and high school, we began to wake up at times like 11am-1pm.

Assuming we wake up now at noon and we used to wake up at 7AM, we lose about 5 hours a day. This equals to around 20 days for a three-month period. That's where our summer has gone!

By no means am I suggesting that you wake up at these dismal hours, but it wouldn't hurt to wake up once in a while at, say 8am. When you wake up this early, not one of your friends is up, so you must entertain yourself. This could include getting some video game time in or going for a mid-distance run. Then at around 2pm, when your friends are ready to go, you begin your social life!

This thought has just occurred to me as summer is approaching, and I thought I'd pass it on to you. So, take that initiative. Have a longer summer. Enjoy your life while you live, not sleep.

Happy Summer!
