Teenage Life on the Loose

“Don’t wanna grow up, I wanna get out…take me away!” – a line sang by Lindsay Lohan on Freaky Friday best describe teenage emotions of what they’re going into and how they want to handle it.

Experiencing teenage life is not easy for us or for our parents. In fact it never was a piece of cake. The temptation of raging hormones wanting to explore the world on our own is just too much to ignore. A stage in one's life where all we can hear is ourselves. It is also the stage of an adolescent life where sudden emotions are uncontrollable.

Common Factors Affecting Teenage Life:

Home

Parents and teenagers will always be like cat and mouse with never ending arguments, misunderstandings and petty fights. Being the parents, it is their obligation to put a stop to their teenagers partying, going out with friends and exploring relationships with necking and petting. Being teenagers it is their argument that they're no longer babies and that they know what they're doing.

Adding to conflicts at home is when parents are getting divorced or are always quarreling beyond earshot of the kids. In Lindsay Lohan's case in the movie, it is the decision of her mother remarrying.

Health

Teens growing up are not oblivious of healthy regimens parents are so gaga about. They are only thinking of the fun they have during parties, never minding the bottles of beers they've consumed or even the packs of cigarettes emptied.

Relationships

Teenage life's most wonderful stage is falling in love and being reciprocated in return. It is the stage of discovering the other sex in terms of physical attributes. Sadly, sex is becoming a proof of love taking high toll on teen minds.

Bullies

Bullies will always be a part of being a teenager. Bullying is an intentional act of causing harm to through verbal harassment, manipulation and physical assault. It helps contribute helplessness to those being bullied. It diminishes self-esteem and encourages self-contained anger. The result of bullying can be Serious and fatal. Victims can suffer from anxiety, loneliness, depression and low self-steam. It can also leave a scar that will last a lifetime.

Teenagers are hard to understand literally. Supporting them and understanding them more may be the only thing they need. Somebody to listen to them and someone they can count on. Help by reaching out and taking time just to be there.
