When I was an upcoming freshman i was really scared. Now that I look back I see that I had no reason at all to be scared.
One of the big reasons why there is absolutley no reason to be scared is that, you will have all of your old friends (possibly) in the same classes as you! I know I was nervous when I first stepped into those halls, but, eventually, I got used to it.
It's okay to be nervous!
Being nervous is a natural reaction and is expected when faced with something new. There is no reason to feel ashamed about being nerveous about highschool, since, every other freshmen is feeling the same way you do! A good strategy for a great first day is to find your friends and stick with them as much as you can, that way, you will feel alot more confident.
Upperclassmen
Always remember, in highschool, to respect your upperclassmen. Your upperclassmen can make your highschool life hell if they would like to so it is best to respect them and get over it (grin and bear it). If you can, it would be a good idea to try and make friends with a few upperclassmen. Make sure you do not run your mouth, and try to act mature.
Schedule Changes
All of the highschools where I live follow a block schedule, whereas the middle school has a period schedule. At the middle school there is about six classes a day, all about and hour long. This can get to feel very long and drug out. The highschool block schedules only have four classes a day, each about an hour and a half long which, for some reason seems faster than the middle school schedule. A big relief on homework with the block schedule is that you take two core classes and two encore classes at a time meaning less homework for you!
How Can I Be Successful in Highschool?
The answer to this is very simple. Pay attention, do your work (on time), meet your credit requirements, and try not to be absent much. A great way to keep on track in highschool is to set goals. Try to set goals like: what college you want to try for, what career you are going to pursue, things of that nature.
Hoped my article helped all you freshmen :]. As always, constructive criticism is welcomed, and embraced.
