I don't know about you but I miss my teen years. I'm a little older now and have all of these responsibilities. I have a wife and a son with one more on the way. Life went from hanging out with friends and being the star of the football team to living with your wife and kid and having to get up to go to work every morning to pay bills and provide for the family.
When I was a teen I played football. I would work out every other day in the weight room at school and I loved it. All of the younger kids looked up to me and that made me feel good. Hanging out on Fridays before the games, just relaxing with nothing on your mind but the big game. Along with football come parties. Everyone would throw parties and everyone was invited. I would love to just be able to go to a friend's house now and just hang out for a bit.
Now I have a head ache everyday, and I stress because of the bill. I'm always wondering if I will have the money to pay this months rent. When you're young, you think, man I can't wait till I'm older, but when it gets here you are wishing you were back in your high school days. When you're young you take everything for granted. Like my old football coach told me,” you will not know why you love it till it's over and you're looking back.”
My suggestions for those kids out there stay in school as long as you can because when you enter into the real world, it isn't fun. Get that degree in school so you can go straight to the top when you do enter this world of frustration. Have fun with your friends and hang on to them if you can. Let them be more than just a memory.
