As a senior student, I've tried many tactics and stradegies to do well in tests. Through many terms and semesters of experience I have now developed an ultimate guideline for tips on test weak.
Maths: I find maths one of the hardest subjects for tests. Although it can be easy to understand, sometimes you miss out on the little things and stuff up the whole question. You can't be confident with your maths revision by just looking through each chapter, unlike other subjects, you need to consistantly do as much questions as you can as practice. Time management is essential for this subject revision, you need to prepare for the test several weeks before the date. Normally in maths tests you can 'accidentally' write the wrong number or calculate it incorrectly very easily which will mess your whole question up. You will also maybe run out of time very easily, and miss out on 'double' checking it. Well, maths champions aren't born! They are created through hours of repetitive and consistant practice on questions so you can save time and get it correct. It is said that a National Maths Champion in China had so many maths papers, that it all piled up and filled his whole room!
Science: Depending on your teacher, probably the questions are gonna be random science questions which kinda relate to your topic or questions you've never been taught before, but can solve it if you have scientific problem solving skills. Most likely, your test will be based on class room experiments and assignments. Remember Science dosen't have to be boring, there are many interesting topics on science, find your passion! There isn't really much to say, just read your notes and listen in class, and it should be fine, as it's an easier subject than the others... Try to do general reading of Science text books...
English: For English Exam Essays, well there's not much difficulty in these, just write up a practice essay the night before the exam and remember it for the exam day. If the exam is based on an unknown topic, then practice writing in a certain style and be creative! Imagination and creative writing is the key to english, so general knowledge about kool stuff would help. Ever since I had read a Charles Dickens novel I get A's instead of B's and C's.
The CRUNCH TIME!: As mentioned before study a few weeks before the exam. Don't just revise on the last night before the exam, you panic and stress! Time management and organisation is IMPORTANT. Get a lot of sleep, and relax. Try not to play sports, as you can get injured or your muscles stretched. If you didn't get enough sleep before the test, I usually take a shower in that morning to refreshen my self and wake up. Take a couple of fish oil, zinc and magnesium tablets daily. Eat a good breakfast, like wholemeals, fruit and cereals. Study in a comfortable environment, and don't study with msn or the cell phone on, it distracts you. Set a goal, and find your weakness so you can get better and better each time, that's what I did and it worked! Well that's all you really need to do, so Good Luck To You and Your Test, hope this was helpful...
