Whether you're in elementary school, college or preparing for your law school entrance exam, there's a right way to study your material and ace your exam.
Give yourself ample studying time. This will obviously depend on what exam and level of school you are in. A 10th algebra math exam will differ from a medical licensing certification exam of course, however you need to prioritize your time accordingly. Start reading and reviewing material about 1-2 weeks before the exam that way if you are confused you can ask your instructor to explain before it is too late. Another benefit of early studying is that you gradually allow your brain to memorize and learn the material as opposed to cramming in an entire 2 weeks of work into a single night.
Keep up with your reading. Read all the material when it is assigned to you because it will help you in the long run and allow your brain to retain all of the information. If you try to read 10 chapters in one week you will only exhaust your memory and probably end up doing poorly.
Ask, Ask and Ask! If you do not understand any part of the material ask right away don't wait until the last minute because there may not be enough time to learn what puzzled you in the first place
Memorize and record key topics and information. If bright note cards or funny riddles help then do it. While reading material highlight or write down key points of the section to help you better organize your understanding of the chapter.
Quiet! I'm Studying! Find a very quiet location whether it be the library or living room table make sure your space is free of distractions of any kind.
Organize. Designate a certain spot to store all of your study materials as well as a convenient time of day to study. Write down all important dates pertaining to the exam as well as when you will be studying on your own.
Get adequate sleep the night before the exam and eat a light nutritious breakfast on the morning of the exam
Form a study group. Sometimes your peers can help explain material to you better then your instructor. Just choose your study partners wisely.
