Studying Makes the Grade

Learn effective ways to study for test and exams. How to study for individual subjects and as well how to relate what you study to your every day life. Studying makes the grade because studying is a practice if you want to learn ways to practice the right things at the right times in the right places read on and learn when and where to study and how to do so when you begin and get there.

Whether you are studying for a test, an exam or perhaps you have a teacher that loves to give pop quizzes there are many different guidelines and tips to help you contain the most information in a short amount of time. However to get the best results it is a good idea to study for test and subjects way in advance than the actual test. The best way to contain all of the information you have learned in class is to go back over it again once you get home after school. You will find that studying everyday will help you to become more organized and more efficient in the class room Those who wait to cram information over night maybe able to pull decent grades however the more you read and study on a topic the better your overall grades will be. To begin studying you must find an area that is best suited for your needs.

Where to Study?

When deciding where to study you must take in a few factors, what type of person you are if you are easily distracted than you want to be away from anyone and anything that can distract you from completing your goal of studying for the big test or exam. You would want to choose somewhere quiet perhaps the Library or your room. You also would like to make sure that the area you have chosen is clean if it is messy with things all over the place this may only lead to you finding some long lost items that now sense you aren't looking for them have decided to catch your eye. If you are the type of person that can't work with silence then you should turn on a TV or Radio however don't turn it on your favorite station this will only lead to you listening or watching more than actually studying. Turn it to the Spanish station or the news or something you normally would find boring the point of turning the TV or radio on is because you don't like working in silence. However when you take most test and exams you will be doing it silent so if you don't like silence it might be a good idea to study similar to how you will actually take the test or exam.

Getting Started

When you get started you should always start off reading over the material or notes that you are already familiar with. Studying is nothing but a practice so you must practice good habits if you are playing a sport you will always practice the things you are best at or familiar with first it helps warm you up for new material. You must always remember how to study depends on what you are studying for. For example if I am studying for match or physics where I must remember formula's so that I can sum the information up I would try to do practice problems over and over again checking over each before moving on to the next. Most School books today have problems in them and answers for every other question in the back, this helps students to actually do the work instead of just looking for the answers however giving some of the answers are helpful to the students who are actually studying and need to check if they are coming up with the right answers. If your book doesn't give the answers finding someone that performs well in the particular subject your studying and asking them to help you go over the problems to ensure accuracy is always an option. If you are studying history the best way to succeed in that is to research, find interesting facts that goes along with the material you need to learn find information that wasn't listed or discussed in class. This will help you gain deeper understanding on the subject and sense you are already reading the notes you've gaining some new information will help establish the old. Instead of just knowing one thing the person invented you will know multiple answers so if the test asks you what did so and so invent you immediately think of multiple answers instead of just one, in which in a lot of cases when you have lonely answers they might slip your mind. Putting relation to the things you study will also help you memorize the notes you study better.

Relation in Studying

You have to find a way to relate the notes you study to you. If you have a formula to memorize try applying the numbers to your life. For example I was born in July which is the 7th month of the year, so every time I see 7 I relate it to July or the month I was born. I was also born on the 22nd day, so if I was to see 29 in a formula I would immediately think my birthday without the years combined. This helps you memorize things but relating them to yourself, when you look at your test or exam and it has questions you will immediately remember your relations even if the answer doesn't come right away. Another example would be if your studying history about some older person try to relate that person to yourself, or perhaps others you know, everyone thinks differently so in the case of relating what you study to you just keep your eyes open and think out of the box. Write your relations down as well they don't always have to be true you can give your study notes relations that are completely made up but help you to remember what you are studying.
