Are you always late to class? Sure, sometimes it's because you were talking to your friends, or because you stopped by the caf for a quick snack before fifth, but sometimes, it's because the halls are just too crowded. How do you deal? Just follow these simple rules for navigating the hectic halls of high school, and you'll make it to class, fast!
- Walk at least two feet from the wall on the right-hand side. Never walk in the very centre of the hall, and only use the left if absolutely necessary (your class is on the left and less than 10 feet away, for example). This is the path of least resistance.
- If you're wearing a backpack, put both straps on. Wearing it properly doesn't make you “uncool”, so don't worry about it. If you've got a one-shoulder bag…good luck. You're gonna need it.
- Angle yourself a little so your shoulder is just ahead of the rest of you. It will be helpful to squeeze through small spaces between other students.
- Try to keep moving, even if the class you need to get to is blocked. If you stop abruptly, you could get bowled over. It's easier to walk past your classroom door and make a U-turn in a less-busy section of the hallway, than it is to try and cut through massive hoards of people to force your way into your room.
- Never stop to talk to people in the middle of the hallway. It's a serious hassle and annoyance for others, and maybe even dangerous for you. And really, if you wanted to get to class on time bad enough, you wouldn't be stopping to talk to your friends in the first place. Save it for after school. Text them in class. Don't stop.
Follow these five straightforward rules, and maybe you'll get to class before the final bell!
