I am very good at math and thought i would spread my knowledge and try to help some people with the most important school subject.One thing that most people struggle with is equations with variables in them where you have to identify what the value of the variable is.
I will start off by listing the order of operations or as most people refer to as PEMDAS which tells you what you do first in the equation and what to do after that ect. P is for parenthaseise (if that is how u spell it) which means you have to get rid of any parenthaseise in the equation first by using the distributive property. You use the distributive property by multiplying all values inside the parenthaseise by the number to the left of the parenthaseise. E stands for exponents which are the small numbers on the upper right of the number or variable. Exponents tell you how many times you have to multiply that number by its self. For example 10 to with the exponent of 5 would be 10*10*10*10*10. M is multiply which means you do any multiplication before dividing, adding, or subtracting. D is for divide. A is for add. S is for subtract. An easy way to remember the order of operations is Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. PEMDAS!
Ok after you do your order of operations what you do next is combine like terms. What that means is any variables that are the same or any numbers without variables that are on different sides of the equal sign need to go together. How you do that is by adding any negative that you want moved to the number it needs to be with and if the number is a positive you subtract it from where it needs to go. After that you should find yourself with a number on one side and a number with a variable on the other side of the = or something that looks like this 5b=25. Now we need to divide everything by the number next to the variable which in our case would give us something that looks like this b=5 and that is your answer. Now go and finish your math.
