Before the Exam
Make sure you have all of the right equipment. Pack a pencil case with the following:
- Blue Pen x 2
- Black Pen x 2
- Pencil x 2
- Rubber
- Sharpener
- 30cm ruler
- Colour Pencils - all colours
- Geometry set
- Fine Liner
If possible do some last minute revision.
In the Exam Room/Hall
When you see the paper in front of you, just remember what you've revised and how you will use that information to write on the paper. Don't let your mind flow away and don't think about anything else. Remember to fill in the appropriate sections of the front of the paper. Most people will be under pressure and will be very nervous, but for me, it wasn't the case. These simple tips will make you calm and trust me, they do work:
- Sit up straight on your chair and close your eyes
- Don't let your mind think about anything else expect your exam
- Still close your eyes and breathe deep but very calmly
- Breathe deeply ten times
- Open your eyes again
This technique helped me a lot.
During the Exam
During the exam, if any useful thoughts flow into your mind, write it down somewhere! Whether it's on the table or the exam paper, write it down in pencil and refer back to it when needed.
Don't make silly spelling or grammar mistakes. Some people forget the simple full stop or the comma, make sure it isn't you.
Plan your answers carefully and don't rush your answers.
Answer every question. Even if you don't know the answer, just take a guess.
If you've finished ALL of the questions, continuously check your paper for any signs of mistakes or questions which you might have missed.
After the Exam
Always think that you've done good and rest.
