One Way to Teach Young Children

Can you remember when you where in primary school or nursery? Were you good? Were you bad?

I'm sure I didn't listen that much to the teacher when I was little. How hard is it for teachers to teach little children? I mean all they want to do is play, it has to be hard to get their attention and, when they are moody, oh are they hard to get through to. For teachers how would it be if you had help to teach?  I mean help in the way of a Teachers Guide.

Lets say for example, one class of children who are at nursery, they have a task, a task to build a character, you know like the Barneys and the Dora's.

The kind of characters that teach, I'm not saying copy the original ones but to let the children's imaginations run wild and create one of their own.

Let's say they did it and they have a character, but the character has no name, so they give it a name, for example lets say Thinky, so now they have a character with a name.

This is the Children's character, they are proud of him.

Every time they walk into the class room, Thinky is standing there. Everyday Thinky has an idea for the children, not the teacher, but Thinky.

Let's say the idea is for the children to do a simple sum, and when they have finished they put it in a box that is next to Thinky. They will think its fun because it involves Thinky, But if the teacher asks them to do a sum, they will think it is boring and they get distracted.

I'm not saying Thinky takes over the job as the teacher, which could never happen, he's just helping the teacher to do their job.

What do you think of this fun and exciting idea for learning and catching the attention of children while they are at their youngest.
