I can remember looking forward to the weekend as a teenager. I could hardly wait until Friday night! I would start planning my weekend on Monday. I sort of see the weekend and everything else in a different way now.
With Spring break just around the corner, I see kids getting excited about the short vacation. My daughter has planned a trip to South Padre Island with her college friends and she too seems to be excited.
For me, I just look at life in a whole different light.
Then: Spring break! Whoo hoo! Let's get packed up to head to the beach!
Now: Thank God for Spring break, I need to clean out the closets.
Then: Spent all weekend having fun, going to parties, hanging out with friends.
Now: Spend all weekend doing laundry.
Then: Christmas, a time of love, joy, celebration and PRESENTS!
Now: Christmas, a time of love, joy, celebration and STRESS!
Then: Birthday, I'm almost old enough to buy alcohol!
Now: No, I won't buy you alcohol, you're not old enough!
Then: Go out with friends; see someone's brats acting up.
Now: Go out with friends; see my brats acting up!
Then: Check the mirror for zits.
Now: Check the mirror for wrinkles.
Then: Head out for a dance or party at 9:00 PM on a Saturday night.
Now: I am asleep at 9:00 PM on a Saturday night!
