How to Make a Worm Farm in a Plastic Bottle |
|

This is for children, but it would be good to have a parent/care-giver/teacher to oversee the making of this worm-farm. Have fun, and view the worms making tunnels and living in the earth! |
- Get an empty 2 litre (equal to approx. 1 gallon) clear plastic bottle and rinse it out.
- Put about four centimetres (2 inches) of soil in the empty clear plastic bottle.
- Put four centimetres (2 inches) of sand on top of the soil.
- Add some compost and some grass clippings.
- Slowly pour in cold water, enough to make it damp but not too watery.
- Leave it overnight.
- Carefully drop about 8 to 12 earth-worms into the bottle and put it in the back of the cupboard until the next day when you should be able to see worm tracks through the clear plastic.
-
When you have finished viewing your worm-farm, you may tip the whole contents into the garden to let the worms do their thing in a larger space.
