The game has all 4 suits and uses 32 cards. It does not use either of the jokers. It uses A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, and 7. In the game you bid and make points. It is a partner game and can only have 4 players. The goal of the game is to get 1000 points.
Rules
You start of the game by passing 5 cards to each player. You pass 3, 3, 3, 3, then 2, 2, 2, 2. Then you flip one card face up for everyone to see. Then the bidding starts. There are 6 ways to bid.
- Spades
- Clubs
- DiamondsHearts
- No Trumps
- All Trumps
Ranging from lowest bid to highest. As far as the order of the first 4 there are many variations. This is the one I have always used.
To bid in one of the four suites you are making that suit trump. If you bid no trumps then none of the suits are trump and if you bid all trumps then all of the suits are trump.
This is the order for the cards in trump and not trump
- Trump
- Jack
- 9
- Ace
- 10
- King
- Queen
- 8
- 7
- Not Trump
- Ace
- 10
- King
- Queen
- Jack

- 7
The first round of bidding you can only bid 3 ways. Color, the suit of the card that is face up, no trumps, or all trumps. If everyone passes then it goes around to again. At this point you can bid whatever you would like. If nobody bids then you deal again.
The person who bid now gets the card that is face up. The dealer passes 3 cards to each person and 2 to the person who bid. At this point the person next to the dealers (the person who would get to deal the next game) has the hand. They are the first to play.
If you are playing in color then there are some rules that apply that are different from all or no trumps. When in color if a card is played in that color you are obliged to put a higher card unless you don't have one. Also if a card is played in a suit you don't have any cards in you are obliged to cut unless your partner is the one who is going to take the hand.
While your in the game there are chances to get extra points. Here are the special things you can have.
- tierce: suite of 3 to 20 points.
- 50 (or a quarte): Suite of 4 to 50 points.
- 100 (or a quint) - suite of 5 to 100 points.
- Carr é: 4 of a kind.
- If jacks then it is 200 points.
- If nines then it is 150 points.
- If Ace, King, Queen, or 10 then it is 100 points.
- Belote: King and Queen in the trump suit.
If you announce one of these and no one else announces one then you show it one the second hand played. If someone else announces the same then you say the highest card in the suite to determine which is better. The better shows his and gets the point. If you have something worth more points then you get it. This applies to everything but Belote. When you decide to play the kind you announce Belote. Then when you play the queen you announce Rebelote.
After all the cards have been played you add up points. Color has a total of 162 points.
All trumps have a total of 258 points.
No trumps has a total of 130 points.
To add the points you count the points of the cards that your team got and this is how much you have. Then you subtract that number from 162, 258, or 130 depending on which game you played. This is the other teams number. If the bidder and his partner has more points than the other team you won that round. If you lost then all the points including announces go to the other team. Also who ever gets the last hand wins an additional 10. If the bidder gets all the points then this is called Capot. Your team gets all the points + announces + 200 points.
Here are the cards and their points.
