Seven Things That You Might Not Have Known If We Did Not Have the Moon

How things on earth would have turned out without the moon.

Because of the moon's presence since time immemorial, we seem to be unmindful of what will happen to us and our planet if our moon is not there. In all likelihood, the romantic and cool moonlight is the only feature of the moon that lingers in our mind. Here are the following celestial events that would happen without this piece of stone that orbits the earth in such amazing faithfulness.

1. Tides are caused by the gravitational interaction between the moon and the earth; so without the moon there will be no lunar tides.

2. There will be no total solar and lunar eclipse, which would have lessened our appreciation of the wonders of the science of astronomy.

3. The moon played a lot of influence in many cultures and mythology; so without it, that would have resulted to human cultures at far difference with what we know today.

4. The moon has inspired many romantic poets; without it, the arts of poetry would have been a little dull.

5. There would have been no landing race to the moon, depriving mankind of the feat of Neil Armstrong that is so important in our modern day culture.

6. Without the moon capturing meteoroids on their way to the earth, then we would have been hit many times by those killer stones from outer space.

7. Moon's gravitation plays a considerable role in the rate of earth's rotation. Without the moon, the earth would have been rotating at a much faster speed, giving rise to many consequences such as the shortening of the length of day and night times, and the alteration of the process of photosynthesis which could have led to the non-formation of many life forms on earth.

How things might have turned out without the moon has no real way of telling some astronomers  claim, making us ever dependent on speculations but which are highly probable that could leave no room for anyone to debate.

Thank you for the comments. Dear The Moon In The Man, I will submit a fix to Triond. I noticed my errors indeed. I was just too hasty for publication that I failed to allow my work a breath and reviews.

Nice article. I asked all that to myself sometime, but you are the one who put it in writing.
