Science CPT

A series, science related, with my summary, opinion, and input on the subject.

This article is about the creation of a galaxy and the planets in it. Scientist are startled to receive a photograph show the composite of ultra-violet from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer and radio data from the National Science Foundation's Very Large Array in New Mexico, shows the Southern Pinwheel galaxy, also known simply as M83.

"It is absolutely stunning that we find such an enormous number of young stars up to 140,000 light-years away from the center of M83," stated Frank Bigiel of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Germany, lead investigator of the latest Galaxy Evolution Explorer interpretation. For assessment, the diameter of M83 is only 40,000 light-years athwart.

The California Institute of Technology in Pasadena leads the Galaxy Evolution Explorer operation and is accountable for science operations and information examination. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, also in Pasadena, manages the assignment and built the science instrument. Caltech manages JPL for NASA. The task was developed under NASA's Explorers Program managed by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. Researchers sponsored by Yonsei University in South Korea and the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) in France collaborated on this assignment.

Relation to Science

This article is related to science because it talks about how a new galaxy was discovered, and is very young, this could be useful to scientist because they could learn much from a maturing galaxy and with this information, we could learn about our galaxies past.

Opinion

In my opinion, this new galaxy will be very useful to society. Though it probably will not effect the lives of people today, it could have an effect of peoples understanding of the formations of our galaxy in the future.
