Why is the dirt Red instead of brown? Why is the sky red instead of blue? What is the future of the red planet, will life spring up, or will we change it so we can live on it. If life once lived on Mars, and if so, what that says about life in the universe.
Why Red Dirt?
The reason that Mars is called the Red Planet because when you look at it from the Earth it appears Red. The fact is though that it is Red, the reason that dirt is red and not brown is because Mars has Iron oxide in the soil. Iron oxide is what happens to old nail; Iron oxide is rust, so that is the dirt on mars is red.
Why a Red Sky?
The Mars atmosphere is made up of 100% of a couple of elements; these are 95% Carbon Dioxide, 3% Nitrogen, 1.5% Argon and .5% of Oxygen and water. The Martian sky is dusty, that is the reason that from the surface Mars has a red Sky.
What is the future of the red planet? Will life spring up?
Will we change it so we can live on it?
A line that Claire Bennet from heroes said, and I quote: the Future is not set in stone. That line is true for Mars anyway; we do not really know what is going to happen to Mars in the future. We only know what we can possibly do to make it habitable for each one of us on earth. Science has come a long way, on earth we know the causes of warmer temperatures are. That is the theory of the terraforming the planet Mars. We send over a robot, the Robot takes the dirt in and releases a gas that will go up into the air, a couple of year and the atmosphere will grow, and the temperatures will get warmer. It will take about 100 year or more to complete but it would be worth it with the way we are populating the earth.
If there were Life on Mars, what would it tell us about life in the universe in general?
If there was life on Mars at any point in the Solar System, lifetime then, that tells us that life in the universe has to a very common thing. Think about it for a minute two solar neighbors each had life at one point or another. Every thing is falling into place, with the rovers that are telling us that water once existed on Mars. The next step is to see if life existed. So long for now and read the next one about light speed and how we will be able in the future to travel over that speed.
