Davao City is the largest city in the Philippines and it has become the center of business and industry in the southern part of the country, making it readily accessible from whichever place of origin in the Philippines. Aside from its progressive economy to boast of, it offers lot of tourist destinations where anyone can have a very gratifying and enjoyable break from whirlwind city life. The Davao Pearl Farm

Peal Farm of Davao is one of the grandest beach resorts in southern Philippines. This lot was used to be a marine farm where white-lipped oysters were cultivated for their white, pink, and gold pearls, thus the name of this resort. Situated on Samal Island which is about a kilometer off metropolitan Davao, it affords such crystalline and glassy waters, while an array of palm trees, flowering plants, and several fruit-bearing trees embellish the cool surrounding landscape. Moreover, several state-of-the-art facilities for wind surfing, water polo, diving, water skiing, and jet skiing are readily available. Further, cottages for overnight stay are provided for and at reasonable rates.

The Philippine Eagle

The Philippine eagle is one of the rarest, strongest, and largest birds around the world. This unique specie is found only in the Philippines and is now endangered, but still populate a small area of the remaining rainforest of Davao and Cotabato provinces in Southern Philippines, albeit in very limited number. Today, the Philippine Eagle Foundation in Davao City is making much effort to preserve these giant birds whose wings stretch as wide as 2-meters. The foundation's artificially breed eagles are hosted by the 700 -km2 area of the Cabuaya Forest where visitors can have their firsthand sightseeing of these monkey-eating eagles.

The Davao Gulf at Sunrise

Facing the wide Pacific Ocean and being back dropped by imposing mountains, the Davao Gulf often presents wonderful and fascinating sunrises, especially during summer in the months of April and May. The protruding Sun often beams a divine display of golden and crisp rays that turn the lucid ocean into a scene of serene golden field. In addition, the local fishermen in their small boats that drift like the lonely clouds would often offer such quixotic and typical Philippine vista.

The Mount Apo

Mount Apo, which means "master", is the tallest peak in the Philippines at a relatively imposing height of 2,950 meters. It is also home to many endemic species of the Philippines, making it one of the major biological excursion destinations of several universities in the country. It was once an active volcano but there is no formal record of eruption, except for a crater lake situated at its peak. For an adventurous undertaking, Mount Apo is the most delightful and rewarding for a local mountain climbing experience. The way up is quiet arduous, but the climb is highly rewarding according to many people who have been on its peak. And upon setting foot on the topmost, one will be afforded a panoramic and breathtaking view of the clouds, and on cloudless days, the magnificent city of Davao.

The Davao Eden Nature Park

Davao Eden Nature Park and Resort is a man-made resort that mimics our collective impression of a paradise. It is home to over a hundred thousand pine trees, orchards, and animal sanctuaries. Moreover, many exquisite flower gardens colorfully paint the resort, making the landscape exceptionally captivating and charming to the eyes of all. For a longer or overnight stay, cottages and villas are available where one can relish a panoramic view of the grandeur of Davao as the resort is situated at 3000 feet above sea level at the foot of Mount Talomo, Toril, Davao City.

Countryside Philippine

Touring Davao province, you'll be treated with lovely and beautiful countryside sceneries. Typical among them is the seeming ocean of the golden rice fields that also fill the air with their very pleasant aroma. Banana and coconut palm plantations are also common beside the wide highways. Native Philippine houses, locally known as the "bahay kubo", would also occasionally appear in view. A sight of those melancholic miniature houses erected on small and upland farms is a source of fascination, and affords anyone a glimpse of the native and pre-colonial Philippines.

Davao Orchids

Being a richly agricultural region and endowed with well-balanced climate, Davao grows a variety of exquisite flowers that include an abundant breed of roses and orchids. Shown above is a native orchid of Davao. Davao tourists may enjoy sightseeing of these lovely flowers at the many flower gardens across the city and the region. If one wishes to cultivate them as well, seedlings can be purchased at affordable prices.

It is so beautiful! I particularly enjoyed the picture and fact about The Philippine Eagle. I didn't know there was such a thing. He is as regal and proud as any eagle I have ever seen. I was glad to know there is a foundation to help preserve them.

Beautiful pictures and a beautiful country. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
