Tamilnadu has some very good hill stations like Ooty, Kodaikanal, and Yercaud among others. They are worth a visit to spend your time away from the busy world.
Kodaikanal is one of the famous and most visited hill stations in India. It is situated about 120 kms from Madurai and at the foot of the Palani hills. It has a centrally located lake and offers some breathtaking views and sceneries. Also the home made chocolates in Kodaikanal are a must have. Don’t forget to pack some home. Kodaikanal is also ideal for trekking activities.
Ooty or Udhagamandalam is situated about 100 km from Coimbatore and it’s known as the queen of hill stations. The Mudumalai sanctuary is very nearby to Ooty and if you are a wildlife lover don’t forget to check it out. Another attraction to Ooty is the mountain train journey starting from Mettupalayam. Other attractions include the botanical garden, government museum and Ooty Lake.
Yercaud is situated near Salem which is very famous for its mangoes. Yercaud has a beautiful lake which will be a main attraction for visitors. Yercaud is not famous as Ooty or Kodaikanal and is often referred to as the ‘poor man’s Ooty.’ It has loads of coffee plantations and citrus fruit plantations. The main attraction of Yercaud is that it is not yet commercialized like other hill stations which make it even more beautiful and pollution free.
