What to Do with an Ugly Tattoo

I had an old friend who had been in the Navy. He had numerous tattoos on his body, and he always said that he'd go out on leave while in the Navy and wake up with a new tattoo. He thought it was funny, but I never could imagine having body art I didn't like or didn't want. So, just what do you do if end up with an ugly tattoo?
