A superb collection of pavement paintings that will knock your socks off.
Just before my computer crashed, I found these at Julian Beever's Pavement Drawings website and couldn't help but think how on earth this was done. I've waited 2 weeks, but have now been finally able to share them with you.
Notice that the artist in the picture is holding a normal sized bottle opener.
Not only do they create these masterpieces, they think of every detail, like the drinks and flip flops at the side of the "pool" and the way in which he seems to step into it.
This one left me staring at it for a few minutes, as I was amazed at the detail and the depth of every inch of this painting.
The tiny little black cat on the pavement and the vast number of people looking at the blazing building gives the feeling of real fear to this picture. However, the artist's clever mixture of the imaginary world of superheroes injects a measure of hope to a seemingly hopeless illustration of what life can sometimes be for a lot of people. I thought that the imagery in this was brilliant and stunning.
I actually at first thought that this was indeed a real computer, every tiny detail must've been kept in the artist's mind and vividly transferred to this pavement. Remarkable.
This is one of the most original pieces of modern art I've seen. A "proof" to every child who saw it, that Santa does get your letters. This made me think of all the museum pieces I've seen throughout the years. There are works displayed there which I think are ugly and… well… not art at all. Though, if you say so, you're perceived as "common" someone not cultured enough to appreciate art. One is meant to profess the brilliance of a random piece of junk because someone "learned" has rendered it to be art. I think that a lot of it is like the "Emperor"s New Clothes.' No one wants to really say that they can't actually see the beauty or value in that which so many others are awed by. Yet, out there, there are so many unappreciated, simply wonderful artists like the creator of the above picture, who are producing truly magnificent pieces of work, but only for a few cents.
Again, a precise attention to every detail. What an amazing mind.
I still do not know if this baby is real or not.
I've heard that one of the hardest things to draw in 3-D is flowing water. This, in my eyes is perfection!
How can one walk by so casually when presented with this?
Look at the shadows the artist has drawn here. Is that him kneeling far away or is that a painting too? Everything looks so real, it's really difficult to tell.
I've really enjoyed these and thought that they were too good not to pass on. Hope you did too. A lot more can be found at the website above.
These are amazing! I have a friend that creates the same type of art for a living. It is very interesting to watch an artist with this degree of artistic skill working on a soon-to-be masterpiece.
Nice job on the article, Anne. I have thumbs up this article at StumbleUpon.

This is truly amazing! How much skill they must need to create art like this, reminds me of the old Mary Poppins.

The dimensional aspect is amazing. Some of them look so good you think they had to be computer generated.

These are truely amazing, and I am of the same opinion about some of the art in museums. I believe it is like the "Emperors" new clothes, and people are afraid of being thought a clod. I get some odd looks when I voice my opinion.

I've seen these pictures before. This guy is great. He does that with just chalk. And he gets paid lots of money to do it! Great article!
