Before leaping into any hobby, especially one that involves a digital camera, there are certain questions that you need to ask yourself. Among these questions are: Am I truly committed to my digital photography hobby? What subjects do I want to photograph? Where will I find these subjects? How many photographs would I take at any one time and does my digital camera have enough memory to support my needs? What about power requirements? Will I need special batteries for my digital camera? Will I be able to use a recharger? How often will I have to upload my photographs to my computer?
Of all the questions that you need to consider, I believe the most important one is, “Am I truly committed to the time and expense of obtaining and maintaining a digital camera?” I remember the old days when “uploading my pictures” was limited to replacing a full load of film.
I am not trying to discourage you from buying a digital camera, nor am I trying to discourage you from pursuing a digital photography hobby. I am, however, telling you from my own personal experience that hobbies consume time, money and other resources. You have to be very passionate about them, or you could end up with several unfinished models that are excellent dust collectors, piles of comic books and paperback books that you no longer read or many, many rolls of unused, expired film!
All things considered, I love my digital camera because it allows me to pursue one of my hobbies.
The best benefit is that a digital camera did not result in many,. many rolls of unused, expired film. My digital camera allows me to photograph what I want and then save only those pictures I want to keep with a minimal amount of waste.
