I love to attend coed softball games and photograph the action. The people are generally real friendly and if it is a beer league then the more they drink the more they provide funny and amazing photographs for me to add to my picable portfolio.
If you enjoy watching amateur sports then this may be your goldmine. Always take your camera and shoot religiously.
Walkathons and marathons can also be classified under the amateur sports section. Walkothons and marathons can provide hundreds of potential photography subjects.
Concerts
Big time concerts can be a good source of photography subjects. If a major concert comes to your area then go to the parking lot. Take pictures of the crowds as they are walking to get into the venue. Usually the people are giddy with excitement. You can get some truly amazing shots with out ever going into the actual concert.
Outdoor concerts are my preference. At a smaller venue with a not so famous band you can get some good pictures. The crowds can be very diverse and the lighting is usually better outside. Many indoor concerts so not allow "flash photography" but if it is afternoon in the park and band I laying you will have a lot better chance of finding excellent natural lighting.
Biker Rallies
Biker Rallies are an excellent place to get pictures of motorcycles,bikers, and hot babes. Photographing for Picable offers you many advantages at a biker rally. While many photographers are waiting for the women to flash them or even asking the women to "show me your boobs" the Picable photographer is unique. We as Picable photographers can not post nudity so we are not looking to take "boobie shots". Some of the hot sexy women are bombarded with requests to "show me your boobs" so when I ask If I may take their picture as they are WITHOUT flashing their boobies then I sometimes get a weird shocked look. I have it happen where I photograph a hot woman with her permission and then she comes back with a couple of her friends to have me take their pics also.
At a rally all subjects are open to being photographed including the men but you want to be careful. If a man is a member of an "outlaw motorcycle club" such as the Bandidos, Pagans or Hells Angels then they may get violent if you take their pic. They may think you are a "fed" or involved in law enforcement. At the same token I have been able to take pics of various members of outlaw clubs with their permission. Most of the guys are the same as we are. Some are not. Just be careful.
If an outlaw biker does not want to be photographed they will usually let you photograph their "colors". The colors are the vest or jacket they wear with the name of the club, the logo, and the rocker that tells which chapter they are with.
The motorcycles are in abundance. This is an excellent opportunity for you to drastically increase the number of "transportation" pics you have in you picable portfolio. If you take a pic of a unique motorcycle of a famous motorcycle such as one of the "American Choppers" motorcycles then post the pic link in relevant motorcycle forums you can get HUGE traffic to you pics.
Family Reunions
Family reunions are a good opportunity for some Picable photographers. You can take pics off all of the people at your reunion at post them to your Picable portfolio. Send the links to your family members and they will view the pictures thus increasing the amount of royalties you receive from Picable.
One note of caution, If you snap a picture of Uncle Ernie and then later Uncle Ernie gets mad at you for not paying him back the money he loaned you then you may have to delete the picture from your portfolio. If the particular picture is receiving a lot of traffic then it may hurt you financially. So if you do photograph your family reunions try to anger any of your relatives in the future.
Malls
The mall may or may not work out for you. If you walk in with a Nikon D300 DSLR and start snapping pictures you may be asked to leave by security. If you go in with a compact digital camera and take a few pics you will not stand out as much.
If there is an event going on at the mall such as a bridal show or a concert then you should be able to shoot away as other people will more than likely also be carrying a camera around their neck or at least using the camera on their cell phone.
Outside of a mall can provide you with some good pictures. Find an area where the cigarette smokers congregate and you can wither photograph some of the smokers or go sit with the smokers and photographer the people walking into the mall.
Many malls now days also have a deal with a local car dealer who will park one or two of the car dealers newest and fanciest vehicles inside. Don't forget to photograph them also.
Skate Parks
Skate parks have a lot of action. At many skate parks you will have a few older guys mixed in with the younger kids that skate. At a skate park you can get some good shots of skaters crashing. Skaters crash a lot, especially when practicing a new trick. Skaters crashing always make popular pictures. If a grandmother has came to the skate park for he first time with her young grandson then keep p the camera focused on her. As her young grandson crashes the grandmother will usually have a very shocked and worried face on her. A perfect snapshot to add to you Picable portfolio.
City Parks
The city park is a nice venue to shoot pictures for Picable. If there is an event going on you can usually find some very unique characters to shoot. The dad pushing his kid on a swing, the elderly guy eating an ice cream cone, the off duty police officer jogging with his canine partner are some of the pictures I have shot at the local park.
Homeless People
The guy needs a few bucks and you need a few pictures. Offer to kick the homeless person down a few dollars in exchange for letting you photograph them. Converse with them and find out a little bit about them so you have the subjects personal history to add into your photos description when you add it to your Picable portfolio.
