I have always been amazed by the detail that can be captured by modern cameras. Here I have put together a few of my favourite close up photos that I have taken recently. The amazing detail in these pictures makes me smile every time I look at them and I hope it does you too. Enjoy!
Insects
Here are the first shots I ever took with my Canon 450D.

I enjoy getting up really close to the subjects but sometimes this can be difficult as I wouldn't want to scare the creatures in any way!

The cricket can be seen in much more detail below. After he became used to me being there, I was able to get in much closer.

I was also lucky enough to find my self up close with a praying mantis whilst staying at my hose in France. I was very wary with this creature and found it difficult to force myself any closer! I am not too keen on bugs I don't know about- was unsure if it was going to try and bite me or sting me or something! Lame I know.

Animals
I also managed to spot a tiny frog in the grass whilst in France and decided I might get some nice shots- I think they turned out alright.

I was told once when doing close ups of animals, to try and focus on the eyes, so I did. However, I found if you focus on the eye, the rest of the creature can blur a bit, so I'm still trying to get the balance!

Flowers
I also enjoy photographing pretty flowers so the following are just a few from my collection- don't ask me what they are though as I have no idea on some of them!

This pink one is a pom pom dahlia I believe.

Beautiful Fuscias- they are great to photograph!
