The artist must had done this on purpose because it you can see the left half arm extended and the right side has no arm but the hip is seen better from the right. I believe that the artist was right handed. The adventurous, creative person can determine it was just the artist making the mistake. An opinion of the Venus de Milos sculpture is that in drawings the marking of jewelry was set to make the lady statue beautiful. Some people want to believe that the statue is beautiful without the accessories of fine jewelry. Some say because she is the goddess of beauty and love, it is necessary to put an earring on her abdomen and a necklace around her neck in order to look sexy.
In art appreciated and history there is discipline in the way we view art. This is art criticism and we learn to see artistic works as realistic. Everyone wants to receive love and respect from a significant other. The artist wants to gain respect for his work he was doing for months and years. We recognized Michelangelo for painting the ceiling in the Sixteen Chapel. We have a sense of appreciation for his work. The artists value individuals and their sense of style and compassion. They are the ones who make art history. It does not oppose romanticism, but creates a new realistic approached to art appreciation.
