Art History

Our past help shape our future. The society has impacted on the way we view eyes in person or on screen. The art form has changed on society. We look at characters, objects, situation, and places in awe.

The henna hand painting is art that I looked at on TV. Many people like this kind of art because it expresses a desire for freedom. Many women use henna and in the Middle East over 50% use or had used henna. The art appreciated is simply art looked at and shared with others. We use opinion to gain knowledge on this piece of art work. In museums, such as the museum of natural history in New York City, we can appreciate the sculptures of dinosaur bones on the floor. There are sculptures of marine mammals in another floor. That is a form of art appreciation. The history of art goes back into the Ice Age era.

It would be fascinating to see the big picture. Sometimes an art is just a red ball of paint on a large frame. We can describe the art as blood, war, the Nile River in Biblical times, a bunch of fire trucks that crashed, the atomic bomb when it exploded over Nagasaki, or a patient that had an EKG and all you see is red blood cells. The statue of Venus de Milos is famous and displayed in the Louvre Museum in Paris. She is known for the name Aphrodites de Milos. The Geek and Romans call it the goddess of beauty and love.

The sculpture Aphrodites was made with no hands and the arms are cut off. The body was designed to look at more from the right side. The artist must had done this on purpose because it you can see the left half arm extended and the right side has no arm but the hip is seen better from the right. I believe that the artist was right handed. The adventurous, creative person can determine it was just the artist making the mistake. An opinion of the Venus de Milos sculpture is that in drawings the marking of jewelry was set to make the lady statue beautiful. Some people want to believe that the statue is beautiful without the accessories of fine jewelry. Some say because she is the goddess of beauty and love, it is necessary to put an earring on her abdomen and a necklace around her neck in order to look sexy.

In art appreciated and history there is discipline in the way we view art. This is art criticism and we learn to see artistic works as realistic. Everyone wants to receive love and respect from a significant other. The artist wants to gain respect for his work he was doing for months and years. We recognized Michelangelo for painting the ceiling in the Sixteen Chapel. We have a sense of appreciation for his work. The artists value individuals and their sense of style and compassion. They are the ones who make art history. The art theory is concerned with the fundamental nature of art and is related to aesthetics investigating the enigma of the sublime and determining the essence of beauty.

The hip hop artists are sublime. Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh were childhood friends having grown up in the same Long Beach neighborhood. Eric's father Billy Wilson taught Gaugh how to read music and play the drums. Gaugh and Wilson together with later Sublime manager Michael Happoldt formed a three-piece punk band called The Juice Bros during their high school years in California. It is known that dancing is an art.

The historian uses a historical method to art history. They ask questions to see how we answer it. We can give our opinion over something. What kind of tea you would like to drink? In the artist point of view one may ask:

How did the artist come to create the work?

Who were the patrons?

Who were his or her teachers?

Who was the audience?

Who were his or her disciples?

What historical forces shaped the artist's oeuvre?

How did he or she and the creation, in turn, affect the course of artistic, political, and social events?

The romanticism is a form of art that describes the realistic view of love and politics in the second half of 18th century. This is complex artistic, literary, art that gained strength in the industrial revolution. The women have to stay at home and do domestic chores.

There are some women that had time to become teachers and governess. In Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, the author talks about the hardship of a woman's place in this complex world. One of the women, the second eldest, chose to be valiant and publish books in her name. The romanticism stressed a movement of strong emotion as a source of aesthetic experience. The stories they write place a new emphasis on the trepidation, horrors, and awe especially in confronting sublimity.

Our modern sense of romanticism character takes us to Byronic or romantic ideals. It is an escape to avoid population growth, urban sprawl, and industrialism. Many people find peace in the country. We do not want to destroy our lungs. Instead we enjoy the lakes and woods. The air we breathe makes us whole. Romanticism reaches classical ideal models to elevate medievalism. It also tends to embrace the exotic and the mysterious distant modes. More aesthetic is the beauty of the sun. The mystery of the stream is flowing in one direction and ending in a lake. The French revolution has created romanticism in art. There are pictures of the French revolution. It places a part in the literary and art history role model. After romanticism came realism. It does not oppose romanticism, but creates a new realistic approached to art appreciation.
