Feng Shui and Room Positioning

Feng Shui is a system based on keen observation and experimentation, combining elements of nature and nutrition. It is the study of the environment, places, people, time, and how the energies of each interact.

The rooms of the house can be roughly grouped into two parts, those better off in the front half and those doing well in the rear.

The area in the front with the main door has a lot of yang energy should have the active parts of the house. Activities here should be connected with your interaction with the rest of society, whether business or pleasure. Hence your living rooms and home office should be in the front.

The area in the back has a lot of yin energy and should be fitted with activities that are more private and family oriented. This will include cooking, sleeping and relaxing. The bedrooms, kitchen and dining are ideally located behind the meridian.

A bedroom or kitchen too close to the main door is considered wrong and stressful. Wrongly locating the rooms disregarding this rule will cause trouble.

If one divides the house as two parts by drawing a line in the middle, ensuring the front half contains the main door, we get two distinct sectors.

But there are some exceptions. A children's bedroom ahead of the meridian surprisingly makes children independent. And a guest bedroom ahead of the meridian ensures your guest does not overstay.
