Feng Shui and a Room's Design

Feng Shui is a system based on keen observation and experimentation, combining elements of nature and nutrition. It is the study of the environment, places, people, time, and how the energies of each interact.

Each room should be a square or a rectangle. Any irregular shape upsets the energy flow. First of all, dead areas are created in which the energy stagnates.

Slant walls and curved walls upset the shapes of the room too. All rooms should have a size proportional to the size of the house. Rooms which are too small or too large are bad. Rooms should also be proportional to their function.

A small bedroom attached to a large toilet is bad. A small living room and a large bedroom will also cause an imbalance.

The space we allot for each room shows the subconscious importance we give for the activity with in.

Different activities take place in different rooms. Adjacent rooms should be compatible. It is better not to have incompatible items in two rooms on either side of the walls, for example a stove and a bed cannot be on either side. Similarly neither can a closet and a bed nor an altar and a bed or toilet.
