These structures are bizarre and just plain weird. They can be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, or an eyesore. Some make sense, others at times make you wonder just what were they thinking? Here are some of the most bizarre buildings ever designed by man.
Crooked House

Located in Sopot, Poland, this house looks as if it's part of a Dali painting. Designed by Szotynscy Zaleski, this destination is one of the most photographed buildings in Poland. Growing up as a kid, I used to hear a lot of Polish jokes since my father is of Polish descent. I can't even imagine where the jokes would begin with this one.
Palace of the Gangster

Those who live near it consider it an eyesore. But Nikolai Sutyagin calls it home. Rising 144 feet, and containing 13 floors, this home is the world's tallest wooden home. The house is incomplete, and is under threat of falling apart, as well as being condemned. The strange convict spent 15 years building the bizarre home.
Upside Down House

Created by Polish businessman and philanthropist, Daniel Czapiewski, this house is located in Szymbark, Poland. The house represents the Communist era and the state of the world. It took 114 days to build the house due to the disorienting angles of the walls. Some tourists even experience dizziness and nausea when walking through the structure.
Nit Wit Ridge

I don't know where to begin with this one. The creator of this “wonder” is Arthur Harold Beal. He was known around the area as being a bit eccentric. He started in 1928 building with odd ends and bits. The building continued for 51 years. The building is now a California State Historic Landmark, and is jokingly referred to as the poor man's Hearst Castle.
Cantilevered Void House

This one defies gravity. Cantilever houses use a beam supporting on only one end. The beam carries the entire load of the building without any other external help.
The Toilet

This house is shaped like, what else, a toilet. Sim Jae-duck, who is the organizer for the Inaugural General Assembly of the World Toilet Association, built it. His hope is to raise awareness for the need of global sanitation.
Dar al-Hajar

A lone palace sitting on top of a rock formation, this home was built in the 1930's in the valley of Wadi Dhahr. It's 5 stories and was built by Imam Yahya. Ruins of existing buildings still reside here. Dar al-Hajar refers to the rock on which the palace was built. It has 35 rooms and numerous halls.
Mushroom House

This house is truly bizarre. It was created by architect Terry Brown, with the help of students. Known as the Tree House, it was built between 1992-2006. The house is made of wood, glass, shell, ceramics, and other various materials.
Landmark Houses
Nearly 20 architects will be designing these remarkable homes. The Landmark project envisions the encompassment of architectural design with surrounding landscapes. Located in Gloucestershire, each home will take on an ethereal presence built into the landscape.
Watermark House of the Landmark Project

Designer Piers Gough, describes this house as being split between house and land. The outside elevation spirals upward to the sky.
Orchid House

Sarah Featherstone envisioned a house that comes from the wildlife. The Bee Orchid is the inspiration behind this awesome design.
