Michigan's War

Article about the current situation of Michigan.

In 2001 terrorists attacked the world trade centers and pentagon causing 2,974 confirmed fatalities. As a result, the American military was sent into action, attacking targets in Afghanistan, and then Iraq shortly there-after. To date, the American war spending has reached nearly a half a trillion dollars.

In Detroit alone, more than 360 people, on average, are murdered every year. That doesn't include deaths caused by poverty, poor living conditions, or accidental deaths. And that, my friends, is just in Detroit. If you factor in cities like Flint, Saginaw, and Pontiac, Michigan loses well over a thousand people a year to crime and poverty.

Over the past couple of years many of Michigan's schools have shut down due to lack of funding. This has cause major over-population in the schools that are left. The Michigan lottery supposedly donates 63 Million dollars a year to out school systems. If this is true, why are all the schools closing down?

Over the past couple of weeks Michigan has faced an even larger problem; The threat of the entire state government being shut down. This would effect anything state related including social security offices, Secretary of State offices, public works buildings, etc. With the current situation of Michigan, if we were to shut down our Government, we would literally have no where to turn.

No education, no jobs, no money, no government; It seems to me like some of us "Americans" have a third world country in our own backyards. I'm sure this type of thing happens else-where in our country as well, but for now I will only speak on what I know.

Half a trillion dollars to fight a war when our own people are dying. Michigan is dying. Where is our funding?

Don't be an "Activist", be an American. For the People, By the People. Demand Action.

Thanks for the comments. It is much appreciated. I thought the spending was somewhere around what you said, but I wasn't sure, so I researched it and everything I could find said it was over half a trillion. Think of it this way, George bush was just approved ANOTHER quarter billion dollars for the war in iraq. And that was after the troop surge, which i'm sure cost a good amount with all the training, deployment, and troop salaries. That shirt does sound awesome though. I wish more people wore shirts like that. IcyCucky, I have to disagree with you. Though I do think your right just for the simple fact that not to many people are going to stand up and be heard, we could change things. America is a democracy. For the people by the people. People have given the government way to much power. We use the word president because he isn't supposed to be a ruler or a leader. He's supposed to be a representitive on an international level. He's supposed to be more of a mediator between countries than anything. I hear a lot of people say, "I'm just one person. I can't change things on my own so why bother". That is a true statement. One person can't change the government. But think about how many people have said that to themselves. I bet over half of all americans have said that to themselves. Now, i'd put my money on the statement that, that many people could make a huge change. You have inspired me IcyCucky. I'm going to write another article on this subject. Thank you for the comments.
